Applying to the Graduate Program
The Department of Anthropology accepts admissions to the program for Fall Semester only. Your application must be completed by December 1. In addition, please read chapter 1 (PDF) of the Graduate Student Handbook for detailed information on applying to the Department of Anthropology.
Apply Online
Beginning October 2006, all application materials are to be submitted online via through the University of Minnesota Graduate School's ApplyYouself website.
The Department of Anthropology requires the following materials:
- University of Minnesota Graduate School Application form, including statement of purpose and writing sample.
- GRE scores (Students from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea must refer to the Graduate School web site for additional instructions- http://www.grad.umn.edu/Prospective_Students/Application_Information/GRE.html).
- Official Transcripts from all undergraduate institutions.
- TOEFL scores (international students only).
- Three letters of recommendation.
Writing Sample
Sociocultural applicants are required to submit a writing sample (20 pages maximum). The writing sample must be submitted through the ApplyYouself website.
